The Uganda lady Cranes team did put on a excellent display during the four day championship at the Lugogo Arena, but the icing on the cake was when the Ugandan ladies were playing the Egyptian ladies team. Ladies Cranes walloped the Egyptians all three of them (Uganda 3 – 0 Egypt 25-18, 25-22, 25-20). But the most important moment was at the end of the third game the Ugandan fans went crazy as the screamed on top of their voices something that sent the Egyptians off their feet.

The President of Uganda Volleyball Federation Mr. Nasiwu Sadik couldn’t hide his enjoy last evening as he celebrated with the winning team and on addition to yesterday’s celebration he has sent his congratulatory message appreciating every member of team Uganda.

UVF President’s Message

“On behalf of UVF board. I extend our sincere appreciation to lady volleyball cranes for the show exhibited during the recent zonal qualifier. You made us proud and we are equally proud of you. Our coaches led by Mr. Tony Lakony Peter we appreciate all your efforts.

As for the volunteers, the supporters and well wishers we equally appreciate you. The task a head of us is enormous! I have come to believe that success comes with different challenges. Every body should prepare for the challenges. Our men need same support and I believe they can progress.

We need everyone in whatever way to enable the development of our might game of volleyball we have played and lived.
Viva volleyball viva lady volleyball cranes. God bless.”

After this message the Lady Cranes team will prepare for the next stage of the World Volleyball Championships. The draws for the final qualification were done already by the FIVB on 9th October in Cairo. Uganda, Kenya and Egypt have thus progressed to the final round. Egypt is among the 7 nations to be pooled in group A, which will staged in Algeria, alongside Zone 3, 4 runners up 5 and 6.

Uganda is in Pool B and is set to face Kenya again. Pool B will have 7 nations with Kenya as hosts (privilege as 1 of 2 top ranked FIVB African nation), Seychelles, Tunisia, two Zone 2 teams and the Zone 6 runner up. Zone 2, whose qualifiers will be played on has nations like Gambia, Senegal, Guinea and Cape Verde, the latter will be hosting between November 7-11 2013.
